what to wear to your session
What to wear? Your senior session is about YOU. You have many facets to your personality and things you love about life. To that end, and because it helps bring more vibrancy and variety to your final images, I’m a fan of bringing a few different looks or outfits. A cute dress for some, or jeans, boots and a cozy, textured sweater for others is great. You can also change looks by adding (or removing) a jacket, or changing up shoes and accessories throughout the shoot.
Locally, Whim is a great choice for outfits, and Audrey Road is also fantastic. You can find full outfits and really beautiful accessories as finishing touches at both places right here in downtown Ridgefield.
You may also consider bringing something along that defines who you are right now, or something you especially love. If you play a sport, perhaps it’s a piece of sports equipment, or a jacket emblazoned with your number. Or maybe it’s your beloved dog. Should you you have plans to attend college post high school and know where you’ll be headed, bring along some university merch! If you have questions about this, or aren’t sure if you can bring something along that you have in mind - just ask!
Rest UP!
While our session together will be fun - not exhausting! - I still recommend getting a good night’s rest and drinking lots of water on the day of - and before - your session to help make you glow a little brighter. As a bonus, blowing out your hair or making sure your nails are trimmed and well-groomed is always a nice touch. Not necessary, but suggested if you like a polished look!
At the session itself, we will move around a lot. We’ll change outfits as many times or as quickly as you can and we’ll move around the location and change up your posing several times. Some things won’t work, and others will be amazing. It’s all part of the process! The time goes by quickly, and I aim to make it fun.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE SESSION
When the session is over, I get back to work. I cull through the raw files and delete all of the images that belong on the cutting room floor - either to test light at a different set-up, because of blinking or too much hair in the face, being mid-sentence or simply because it’s a duplicate. The images that are left will be thoughtfully selected, hand edited and placed into your digital preview gallery, from which you can select your final images. You’ll receive your preview gallery within 2-4 weeks. I never share raw files because they are not representative of my final work, and seeing every image would be incredibly overwhelming to you. This part of the process is a big part of the service I provide to you as a professional. What’s wonderful is that you still get to choose your favorites from a highly curated batch of images. You may also have the option of upgrading and purchasing the entire gallery for an upgrade fee.
Once you’ve selected your favorites - or chosen to upgrade your gallery - I will produce your final image gallery, where you’ll have full, download access to each of your high-resolution, digital image files. While prints, framed photo products and canvases are not included in the package price, you have the option of purchasing all of these products (and more) through the Print Store in your gallery. I highly recommend using the Print Store as the product quality is professional grade, and it’s a convenient one-stop-shop. However, you’re under no obligation to order a thing.
I also love to share your images on my social media, sometimes as a sneak peek. If you’re not comfortable with that, simply say the word. If you are, or wish to share your images on social once you have your final gallery in hand…I love to see it! A tag (@katewarkphotography) is also always super appreciated if you remember to!
The bottom line is that I love meeting you, capturing you, and seeing you love and use your images. It’s such a special time in your life and having photographs from this time will always help you to remember it well.
