More about Me
Hi, I’m Kate. Some of you may know me, and some of you may not. As a bit of an addendum to the “About” section of my website, I thought it would be fun to share a few more things about me. If I can answer any more questions that I haven’t addressed here, fire away! I’m happy to tell you more and even happier to make sure you feel comfortable with the person capturing your special moments.
· I have lived in Connecticut for eight years, but I’m a New Yorker. As the youngest of four, me and my three older brothers grew up in the Hudson Valley. But my parents are from the Bronx so…the city vibes (and accents) were strong in our house growing up!
· Being a photographer isn’t my only job - I work in PR by day! I worked for more than a decade in travel PR, representing hotels, resorts, destinations and food and beverage clients around the world. More recently, I work with a firm in the Hudson Valley where I was born and raised, so it’s a bit full circle. Sometimes, I’m even lucky enough to do headshots and event photography for my PR clients. I didn’t realize this initially, but the more time goes on, the more I realize how closely PR and photography are related. They both allow me to flex my storytelling muscle. In PR it’s through writing and messaging, and in photography it’s in capturing your families and your milestone moments on camera. They go hand in hand.
· I’ve been married for 14 years to my husband Jeff. We met in college, though we didn’t start dating until after I graduated. We have two daughters and a rescue pup named Charlie who loves social distancing and is fiercely protective of our girls. We lived in Rye, NY for years before moving to Ridgefield – the only town in the area Jeff ever copped to liking, outside of his home state of Maine!
· I’m not a good cook, but I’m surrounded by them. My mom’s Italian cooking is life, my brother is a professional chef, and Jeff should’ve been.
· I love prosecco and margaritas, but I would choose chocolate over alcohol any day of the week (and usually do).
· True crime podcasts are my guilty pleasure. Also podcasts in general are SO my jam. I can get stuff done and still be drawn into an engrossing story? Win, win.
· Taking walks, reading books and snuggling with my girls and our dog are high on my list of favorite things, and I don’t do enough of any of them. I’m an enneagram 3 and driven by a desire to work hard and be productive. I don’t always think that’s a great thing.
· Spending time with my clients, getting to know them and what makes them comfortable, and above all, bearing witness to the special connections they have with their people is such a gift and I don’t take the fact that I’m given the chance to document these things lightly. It brings me more joy than I could probably ever express.
That’s more about me…tell me more about you!
