How to Prepare for Your Connecticut Photo Session
As the start of summer has (un)officially begun, I decided to take some time in my latest blog to share all the ways to prepare for your Connecticut photo session with me. I want to make sure you feel like you covered ALL the bases before you show up to your session, no matter what type you've booked. As a Connecticut photographer, I’m sharing a few of my top tips:
* Communicate with your photographer. Ask all the questions. Don’t feel like you’re a bother - we always want to hear from you and we’re here to help answer any questions you have about the session - whether it be about outfits, or footwear, or weather - and put any of your questions and worries to rest.
* Before you leave the house, remove all smartwatches, rubber bands and other accessories that aren't favored from your wrists and body. These items can distract away from the photos and from you - so leave them at home. ⌚
* If you're up for a haircut or style refresh, consider booking that appointment at least one week before your session, and no sooner, to allow time for you to get used to the change and how to style it. The last thing you want is to be self-conscious about a new look for your photos! 💇♀️
* If you are an eyeglass-wearer and your lenses are transitional, consider a clear lens for just the session so that you're not accidentally rocking sunglasses in the formal shots 😎
* We’re all attached to our cell phones, but this one’s a biggie - take them out of your pockets before the session begins. You can always see it in the photos. Same goes for your car keys!
*This one’s easier said than done, I know, but for sessions with kids, try not to worry about how your family will look, behave, or listen during the photo session. Kids listen to me more than they listen to their parents. I know this from professional experience and also personal, because my kids are the same way! So let me lead, let them listen to me, and just try to relax, be present, and enjoy your kids. They’ll feel your good energy, and that will reflect so beautifully in your photos.
* Celebrate after the session! Getting ready for a photo session can be a lot of work, but the session itself will be tons of fun and you'll be looking fabulous. So celebrate by planning to have dinner out on the town when you're done - you won't regret it!
